Don and Julie Klein, Past-Co-PresidentsDon and Julie Klein started in the Red Cross and with DOVEs just before Sandy made landfall in October of 2012. We have become qualified in many disaster activities, and actually worked on disaster responses in Feeding, Supply, Transportation, Sheltering, Disaster Assessment, Client Casework, and Disaster Action Teams (DAT). Between us, we are also qualified in Disaster Services Technology (DST), Safe and Well Linking, and as a Fork Lift driver. In DOVEs Don has been the DOVEs deployment coordinator and Julie has rejuvenated DOVEs merchandising and together we served as temporary Secretaries for several months. We enjoy meeting new people and visiting this beautiful country. Our previous experience includes leadership in PTA's ( when our 3 children were young). Don worked at Northrop Grumman in software development and retired from there after 32 years. Julie ran her own child care business for 22 and then retired so she wouldn't be burned out for our own grandchildren. We have been married 41 years. Most of our married life we lived in Columbia, Maryland, followed by 10 years in San Antonio, Texas, where we owned a house, occasionally visiting it. In 2014 we decided it was time to go full time. Our 3 children are now all grown and have us driving between Florida, Texas and California. We have 4 beautiful granddaughters and our California daughter is getting married in June, 2015. |
